AsphaltEdge
Restraint Goal
-
AsphaltEdge is designed to allow for full and consistent material
thickness to the edge of the installation.
- AsphaltEdge’s
L-shape creates an integrated installation and provides a maintainable,
finished edge.
*Application
Overview
-
AsphaltEdge is anchored in place using 3/8” x 10”
spiral steel spikes.
-
Decomposed Granite or Aggregate material is laid and compacted
to desired depth.
-
Semi-compact backfill material adjacent to the completed installation
providing additional support.
*Intended
as an overview only, please refer to specifier/ manufacturer technical
specifications.
Application
Note:
We recommend AsphaltEdge for this vehicular application in that
the wider base (2-1/4” or 3” depending on AE product)
provides a wider “anchoring” surface. This wider surface
allows the aggregate to be compacted over the base and 10”
anchoring spikes. This combination creates an integrated installation
between the AsphaltEdge restraint and the aggregate. Note: For 3-1/2”deep
light vehicular / pedestrian applications, also consider 3/16”
PermaStrip.
Anchoring
3/8”
x 10” spiral steel spikes anchored 4” to 12” on
center depending on depth and compaction of aggregate and base material.
- Anchor
at ends of each section in addition to guidelines indicated below.
-
For a shallow and/or loosely compacted base, 4” to 8”
on center spacing recommended.
- For
deeper and/or densely compacted base, 12” on center spacing
recommended.
AsphaltEdge Product:
AsphaltEdge product (height) is determined by the depth of the aggregate.
Example: 2-1/2” aggregate = 2-1/2” AE. |
