Permaloc performing on Toronto City Hall green roof
The Toronto City Hall green roof was opened to the public last year. Â Since its grand opening, it has become a popular stopping point for many of Toronto’s citizens, as well as visitors from around the globe.

The green roof is located on the podium roof of the unique City Hall complex. Â New landscaped gardens, courtyards, terraces, furniture and walkways provide unique views of downtown from this urban oasis in the heart of the city.

Designed to be an urban oasis, approximately 35,000 square feet of concrete on the podium roof has been transformed into living vegetation to reduce the building’s environmental impact and for residents and visitors to enjoy all year around.  Aside from adding another green space to the city, the podium is said to improve thermal and sound insulation, air quality and will create a habitat for birds and small animals.

Chris Pommer of PLANT architects, co-designer of the garden, tells why spaces like this are so important:
“If you don’t take care of your main public space, where we come together to celebrate, to mourn, to protest, how can we expect people to take care of the rest of the world?”

Permaloc’s aluminum green roof edging, GeoEdge, was featured throughout the Toronto City Hall green roof. GeoEdge is the world’s leading green roof edging, and has been used on many leading projects around the globe. A wide range of heights, a unique, patented base design that allows for straight or curvilinear designs, and ready availability make Permaloc GeoEdge the choice of discerning professionals.
